Miss Findlay

Ms. Katherine Findlay is thrilled to be apart of the IUSD Primary Music teaching team! At age 14, as inspired by her middle school music teacher, Ms. Findlay began to assist teaching strings classes and giving private bass lessons. That began her passion for teaching music!

Later at California State University, Long Beach, Ms. Findlay double majored in bass performance and music education, and then completed her teaching credential. Ms. Findlay graduated cum laude from CSULB where she was the principal bassist and an active member in the Bob Cole Conservatory Orchestra. While finishing her credential, she taught as a vocal teacher and music instructional assistant in the Irvine Unified School District.

Ms. Findlay has had quite a variety of teaching experience, including teaching strings at the Affetti Music Camp in Anchorage, Alaska. Ms. Findlay loves teaching both primary music and upper-grade strings for IUSD. She also works with the Long Beach Harmony Project, whose goal is to invest in children and communities through music. Ms. Findlay recognizes the rich abundance of skills and talents that music can add to a child’s life, and she looks forward to working with children of all ages to enrich their lives with music.
